[Cardfight!! Vanguard] Thoughts on Oct '12's restriction list

I know everyone has been QQ'ing about the new restriction list.

To be honest, I don't care. You might say "LOL AKI BUT YOU NO HAVE THE DECKS, SO YOU NO KNOW HOW WE FEEL DESU!!!!!!". Oh, really? I do have such decks - MLB-KoK, Eclipse, and The End. I just chose not to use them frequently, because I prefer to go against the norm.

Know what? I agree with uncle Homura, we brought this upon ourselves. If you guys do notice, the cards being restricted are dominating competitions and tournaments everywhere. These are the players who dominates the majority of player base, spamming the said cards everywhere and refusing to switch for other options. It's due to this, BSR tried to balance out the meta by introducing more crossrides and restricting the said cards.

inb4, Aki is a BSR fanboi. No, I kinda disagree with BSR's decision on this restriction list. However, to have the players switch for other playstyles, you just have to take drastic measures sometimes, and this is what BSR opt to do. Surely, the staffs over at BSR would have thought thoroughly before coming up with such restriction.

You guys might ask about Ezel, Vermillion, Maelstrom, etc. Aren't they meta too? I'd say yes, they're becoming meta clans too. I won't be surprised if BSR decides to introduce restriction on them one day if players keep spamming them on every stages of competition.

Do remember that we still have many clans to try out. It's not like BSR is shutting you off from playing Vanguard, no? Just like everything and any card games, Vanguard will keep changing and evolving. So, if you really think that this restriction is fucking up the game, and you see no future in the game, you are welcome to quit the game; others will keep adapting to the game, just like how everyone does.

  1. Apparently the majority cares about their money and metard-ness more than being creative and thinking out of the box

  2. Even though I'm not playing the decks tht got hit, I still feel the restrictions are stupid.. As a normal guy playing a normal average deck, playing with Overlord The End and Majesty Lord usually boils me up~

So what if they dominate? Its not like those decks are doing OTKs or FTKs without a chance for their opponent to even play or to stand up against them. Players determine the outcome of the game, when to guard, when to attack the Rear-Guards, this is what makes Vanguard different from the others. At least their MLB and The End's effect are way better then the Glory Maelstrom Bullshit to Da Max effect.

Bushiroad shouldnt even put these restrictions. Every single game, going through an obstacle is usually the most thrilling part. If they really dont want them to dominate, just make more cards that are on par with them.

You know what? I'm sure every Aqua Force player will be happy with all their bullcrap effects. Back then, even though Maelstrom's effect was honestly OP(Broken or Imba whatever you call it), it takes skill to set up you field, now, I won't aknowledge nor respect them.

    1. The restriction IS stupid, no one says it's not. But, the fact that many Johns and Janes out there are spamming the shit out of DoTE, MLB-Kok and Eclipse is much more stupid.

Going against an obstacle and playing with the same shit again and again is different. When most of the players are spamming the same shit deck in tournaments, it's not a challenge or obstacle anymore, it's what we call being single minded and this just makes others lose their motivation to continue on playing.

To counter this, BSR did made better cards to counter this issue. However, people stick with what they and everyone else are familiar with. Everyone does that, because this gives they feel better staying in the comfort zone. Heck, even I'd do that. So, what BSR do next? They put up the restriction to force players to change. Can we blame them for doing so? I don't know, maybe they could've come up with something else.

The bottom line is, if we don't want such restriction to come in effect again, we have to start changing first, instead of spamming the same clan over and over again. It might be frustrating for those who are playing the cards that are being restricted, but it's much more frustrating for others who keep facing the same clan in tournaments.

By the way, no, I don't think Maelstrom, nor GM is OP. They're just decent.
