Anyway, recently I've heard tons of rumors about Eternal Idol Pacifica's abilty and do note, cards from BT10 are not even fully released yet. Just for rumors sake, cue the following image:
Lemme translate the text for you if you don't know how to read Japanese.
永【V】 : If you have a card named "Top Idol Pacifica" in your Soul, this unit gains 2000 power.
永【V/R】 : 盟主(if you have a unit of a different clan from this unit, this unit may not attack)
自【V】 : When a 《Bermuda △》 unit is placed on 【R】, this unit gains 2000 power till the end of your turn.
起【V】 : LIMIT BREAK 4(This ability activates when you have four or more damage): [Counter Blast *2] Return all of your 《Bermuda △》 Rearguards to your hand. If there are 5 Rearguards returned to hand by this skill, this unit gains 1 Critical.
I'm kinda skeptical about the image above due to the fact that BSR always arrange the main ability for every card on the first line, instead of having them on the third and last line respectively. Besides, till now, all crossride units have only 3 abilities, I kinda doubt Eternal Pacifica will have 4 abilities. Furthermore, we can't really confirm that Eternal Pacifica is a crossride unit; remember Cosmos Lord?
However, there are reasons to believe this image and Eternal Pacifica's abilities is a mock up for the final product. BSR used Bermuda △ for new sets of playing style back then during EB02; I won't be surprise if they really want make Eternal Pacifica the first crossride unit to have 4 abilities. Additionally, the ability is consistent with the clan's special ability, "bouncing", which is to return units from the stage back to your hand by your unit's ability.
Let's just say it's true, and we'll going to have this as the confirmed Eternal Pacifica, is it a good card?
In my opinion, this will be another power build again, pumping everything to the Vanguard, which forces your opponent to throw in nulls. The Counter Blast is kinda wasting to bounce your Rearguards back to hand, but they can be used with the current cards we already have - remember Rio? While pumping power to Pacifica, you can spam Rio's ability to increase your hand size. Of course, you could opt for the "HOLY SHIT COUNTER BLAST FOR PACIFICA ONLY FOR MOAR POWAH!!!". You could also save the Counter Blast for Top Pacifica's Mega Blast, since he Mega Blast can be activated from being on the Rearguard circle.
Let's not forget, being a 13k Vanguard is pretty good, either defensive or offensive wise.
In conclusion, Eternal Idol Pacifica is a decent card. She's not broken, nor underpower; perhaps an above average crossride unit among all crossride units, that's all.
Eh she's actually broken and very powerful. The ability to rearrange one's field to make better columns gives the user a HUGE plus.
ReplyDeleteThe ability to rearrange formation is somewhat like what we have from Sakuya and Lena. The only two differences is Eternal Pacifica has to play 2 Counter Blasts to do so, while Sakuya and Lena has to ride on VG circle to bounce all cards back to hand; Eternal Pacifica is 11k base in power, 13k if the crossride succeed, making her better defensive wise.
DeleteShe's just decent or above average, period.
I think u should think about it more thoroughly
Delete1. While Sakuya and Lena can rearrange the field, they can only do it once. She can do it twice
2. Not only that, she can bounce it anytime u want in the main phase
3. She also gains an extra crit for doing so
4. When u call a unit to the RG after u use her LB, she gains another 2k
In my eyes, she is way better than all the xrides from BT09.
1) By paying the cost, yes, she can do it twice. What if the Counter Blasts are being used for other purposes. Same as Sakuya and Lena, you have to draw them up, before using their abilities, but they don't cost anything. Both have their pros and cons.
Delete2) It may give a little advantage, but I don't see any huge advantage or disadvantage to both sides.
3) So? What about guarding and nulls?
4) OMGWTFBBQ!!? POWAH, POWAH EVERYWHERE!! imo, a player with some experience should have saved one or two nulls for this occasion. Compared to with The Blood, PE or GM, Eternal Pacifica is nothing.
Sakuya and Lena do not do anything amazing except bouncing your field, neither one can get to 3 crits and 33k power (or more) via their own effects, and your usage of null guards as an argument is completely invalid. Since when have players been able to 100% ensure that they have a null guard on hand (not including Kagero and Spike Brothers players due to Conroe and Mecha Trainer, respectively)?
DeleteAlso, you did NOT just say Platina was dangerous. Platina is far and away the absolute worst crossride in the game, and is second only to Gerard for worst GP boss unit.
The effect would be great if we have blazer idol and the plus 2k for grade 2 idk the name. then we do the effect twice. then we call that card to RC then we get 20k. Use the CB again we get 20k again from pasifica skill and the plus 2k card effect from blazer idol.
DeleteOr we use this card for tagteam so we can use the effect four times
DeleteAnd that's the reason I said they have their pros and cons. Besides, it's as if you're implying Eternal Pacifica doesn't need to pay any cost to activate her ability (if it's her true ability). As far as I'm concerned, CB*2 is hefty cost to pay and bouncing 5 RGs are not doing any good too. If you have already a full field formation, I can't say much about that. However, if you don't, you'll need to place cards from your hand to the RG circle and that's when the issues come. What if you just don't have enough cards to make it full field? What if the cards you need to place are cards for guarding purposes? That'll be revealing your hand cards to your opponent. Those are just two issues on getting the extra crit.
DeleteWhen did I even wrote that players can 100% draw a null on their hand on my previous comment? I was just merely saying that what about guarding with other guardable cards, though one might need to discard many cards to the dropzone, or simply just guard with a null if one has a null on his/her hand. And when did drawing a null became that difficult? I've been running 4 nulls for most of my decks recently, out of 15 games I'll only encounter such difficulty in 1 or 2 games.
In regards to PE. Apparently, a card that tops tournaments is shit. In this case, I'll just salute you. You win.
Okay guys lets all calm down now.. The REAL skill has been revealed which turns out to be not as broken as before. And I thought DKVTB was topping tournaments in Japan?
DeleteLol? I just thought it's kinda funny an anon would get so agitated at my comments. Isn't this supposed to be the internet? Not saying he/she is wrong, everyone is entitled to have his/her opinion, no? Apparently, the said anon is taking this to the next level, "internet argument" lulz, this is really something to laugh at.
DeleteAnyway, I'll still stand by my opinion that Eternal Pacifica is a decent card. In regards to topping, I meant topping the top 4 spots, I'm not clear on that on my previous comment, my mistake. Tournaments in my area are mostly dominated by DKV and PE, but I'd like to hear more tournament rankings on other countries as well. Perhaps some other clans or builds fare better?
Who says i was agitated? I was only pointing out now that the real skill has been shown, there is no reason to discuss about it anymore. And about the toppings, i was talking about the team tournaments that was shown in Bushiroad's official website. Pezel was there, yes, but he was merely splashed in other builds as a surprise. Unlike DKTVB that was in his own build.
DeleteJust for the sake of being clear:
Delete@anon (February 24, 2013 at 11:19 AM): I was saying the previous anon, not you. Jeez... That's why I always prefer you guys commenting with a nickname, at least it's easier to differentiate. imo, PE can be used in many different type of builds. So, it doesn't really matter to me. As long it works out well as a key card, that's what matters the most.
Well sorry for the misunderstanding. P.S. im both anons from feb 24. Since u posted that comment after what i said, i thought u were talking to me
DeleteYep, I know, since I can always look up for the IP addresses.
DeleteWHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU MAN! WHY INACTIVE FOR A MONTH?
ReplyDeleteXD
I'm busy with work, sadly... >.<
Deletewhere are the picture taken?
ReplyDeleteI don't really know this time. Some friends forwarded this image to me, seems like it's been circulating around the net.
DeleteThe limit break skill must say "until the end of the turn" its a translate error or print error?
ReplyDeleteIt should, but I can't find the "till the end of the turn" on the print above.
DeleteI don't think shes broken compared to most cross rides unless you specifically choose to compare it with Phantom Blaster Overlord....
ReplyDeleteAgreed. But, I notice PBO has been topping tournaments in certain districts in Japan.
