[Cancerous cunt's MKB ramblings] C³ Equalz Banana Split

I haven't been posting updates on the switches for some time. I've been using the Alpacas, and this, the C³ Equalz Banana Splits (or aka Macho before the rebranding) for the last 6 months.

I don't have much to say about the Banana Splits, I believe they're clones of Alpacas. If you're anal enough, you probably might notice some differences. For example, I do notice the following:

  • slightly lesser spring ping
  • slightly heavier feel
  • more muted bottom out sound

Here's a sound test video:

That said, they are as enjoyable to type on as the Alpacas. Depending on the availability and pricing, these are pretty easy to recommend.

[Cancerous cunt's MKB ramblings] Prime Keyboard Alpaca

To start this off, I'd like to think I have more in depth grasp of linear switches after the past few months. Moving forward, my posts will be more focused on stock switches, and tests on the stock profile of a switch, instead of custom lube. My rationale is, I don't want all my opinions on the switches based on 205g0, and I think all the switches felt somewhat the same after lubing. Besides, I don't really film my switches, so what's the point anyway. I'll still lube my switches, but will my opinion on lubed switches out of the post, unless there are huge difference when the switches are lubed.

The victim of my butter fingers this month is the Prime Keyboard Alpaca switches, or I'd like call the "CNM" switches. #nmsl

Jokes aside, the Alpacas are manufactured by Durock. Based on what I read the ones I bought is consider the v2 batch. Apparently, Prime Keyboard doesn't provide any differentiation between v1 and v2. It'll be interesting to compare v1 and v2, if I managed to get hold of v1, but I think that'll be a huge hassle, and I'd probably need to find them on secondhand markets.

I really like the color of the Alpacas. They have dark gray housing (might be a bit hard to differentiate from the photo) and light pink stems, and they looked really good. Having said that, this means the backlight will not pass through the switches. As I mentioned previously, I don't use backlight on my keyboards, so this isn't an issue to me, but RGB fanbois should take note of that.

The Alpacas are lubed at stock, and opening up a switch, the lube seems to well applied with just the appropriate amount. This means, for those who don't lube their switches, they feel great out from factory. From my week long usage, they feel indeed smooth. In fact, I think these are the smoothest switches I've tested so far. Without a doubt, the typing experience is just an absolute joy.

However, compared to switches I've tested previously, the Alpacas has some wobbliness issue. Although I prefer my linear switches to be less wobbly, but coming from a person who uses wobbly clicky switches most of the time, uh, I think I can overlook this.

The sound profile on the Alpacas are another huge point for me. There are no noise from scratch and spring ping. They have a deep bottoming out sound, a bit muted compared to other linear switches. There is a silent variant, which I think will make bottoming out more muted, but I think these are just fine. In fact, I'd prefer some sound over fully muted switches. Here's a sound test video:

With so many switches on the market nowadays, I'm genuinely impressed at how well they turned out. I might be overhyping them, but I think my experience with the switches justifies it - they are just THAT good. At the moment, the Alpacas stand at number 1 among all linear switches for me. Try them out, you won't regret it.

[Cancerous cunt's MKB ramblings] C³ Equalz Tangerine

This month's lab rat switch is the C³ Equalz Tangerines.

There are 2 variations of the Tangerines - 62g and 67g. I've tested both, but mainly went with the 62g variation, because I don't feel the differences when my butter fingers just smashes anything linear. So far, the Tangerines are smoother than the AKs, but I think the margin isn't huge. Compared to AKs, there is a slight wobbliness, but again, not by a huge margin.

The Tangerines are already lubed at stock, so there is no need to further reapply lube, unless you're going to apply films as well, since I read that films make the switches sound better. To ensure I'm correct on this point, I tried to reapply lube on mine (just the 62g, because I have tons of the switches to abuse). I didn't film mine, because again, I have butter fingers, and I tend to fuck things up, instead of making them better. Again, stock or relube, no differences to me.

One downside to the Tangerines is the distorted color of the backlight, since the housing and stem is in tangerine (duh...). I thought my keyboard ran out of battery the first time I used them, and took me a few minutes to realized the battery color indication for the backlight is distorted. If you're a RGB fanboi, get ready to have your backlight in orange hue. This isn't a huge problem for me though, since I don't turn on my backlight, except for the BT, battery, and CAP indicators.

As for the sound, it's something like plasticky poppy clacks. I got used to the sound, even though I'm not really a fan of it. To clarify, my preferences are the muted sound from AKs or the thocky sound from Topres. That said, I think it depends on individual - there are tons of differing opinions on the sound signature, it's always down to your own likings. Here's a sound test video:

tldr; great switches. I don't really care about the sound at this point, the smoothness of the Tangerines are enough to make me happy when typing on my keyboard, especially on a bad day. I definitely recommend buying these to try them out, particularly if you're a linear switches fanboi.

[Cancerous cunt's MKB ramblings] Everglide Aqua King v3

After using EG Oreos for a week, and I still can't get used to them. So, I'm swapping them out for the Everglide Aqua King v3 switches. I'm changing the format a bit, will be posting my thoughts after a week of using the switches, instead of right after putting them into the keyboards, so that I can have a better impression of the switches I'm using. That being said, the goal is still to try to use a new switch for a month.

Well, I guess I failed the EG Oreos test.

The EG AKs are linear switches with 3 variations of actuation - 55g, 62g, and 67g. I heard there is a 37g variation, but I'm unable to find that variation anywhere. That said, I went with the 55g variation since they feel just right for me - not too light, not too heavy. As for my impression after a week, this must be the smoothest linear switches I've ever used, I don't feel any scratchiness at all. I'm also quite impressed there is almost no wobble on switches. I'll admit, I'm a pleb for when it comes to the non-mainstream linear switches, since the only other non-mainstream linear switch I've used was NovelKeys Cream switches, and they aren't even comparable to the EG AKs.

These switches are very well lubed from the factory. I read some reviews that mentioned people are getting underlubed or overlubed switches, but I didn't encounter such problems. I thought it might not be a widespread issue, but perhaps I hit the jackpot with this batch. So, I just left mine factory lubed. Hey, don't try to fix something, if it isn't broken, right? I encounter another reported issue where the pins of the switches are bent, and I had to straighten quite a number of them.

Another plus for RGB fanbois is the clear transparent housing and stem. Although I'm not using any backlight on the current keyboard, the transparency will allow the backlight to shine through properly, and with the exact color. For example, I'm using the Gateron Ink Blues on my other keyboard that I turned on the backlight, and due to the blueish transparent housing, my white backlight becomes blueish as well.

I'm not very good in describing the sound of switches, and I'm a pretty pleb typist, since I only know how to type using 3 fingers on each on my hand. No, uh, 4 fingers on my right hand. There is a soft clacky sound when bottoming out the EG AKs, while a higher pitch than expected when topping out. Even though I prefer clicky sounded or thocky sounded switches, I think they sounded pretty nice as well. Here's a random sound test video I found on YouTube:

I'll probably use these babies for more than a month, since I just adore them so much, and skipped 3 weeks on the EG Oreos. I'd highly recommend these switches if anyone would like to try them out.

(update)
I've managed to buy a pack of the 37g variation (200 pieces).

After testing a number of other linear switches, I felt maybe my experience with the EG SKs was the ones I owned were only slightly overlube. To test my suspicion out, I bought another batch of EG AKs, and the switches came with this batch were definitely overlube, more than those I were using previously.

Even though, I'm lowering the ratings I gave the EG AKs in this update, I still think the EG Aks are pretty interesting to test out, and if you have the budget, it's worth trying them out.

[Cancerous cunt's MKB ramblings] Everglide Oreo

I haven't been posting anything on this blog for some time. Close to 3 years, I guess? I've been collecting MKBs and switches for some time, and I thought writing some of my thoughts here would be nice. Enough with the ramblings and let's get down to it!

I'll be starting with the Everglide Oreo switches.

As usual, I've cleaned the keyboard, and lubed the switches. The EG Oreo switches are tactile switches with 55g actuation force.

In my opinion, they're pretty bad without lube - feel very scratchy; I feel lubing is a must. The initial press feel nice, you can feel a pronounced tactile bump, if you're switching from the usual mainstream tactile switches, ie Cherry Browns and its variants. That said, it feels "sticky" when bottoming out, with or without lube. You can feel this, at least I felt it, pretty easily especially on the larger keys. As for the sound, they sound a lot better than the usual mainstream tactile switches.

To be honest, I'm kinda indifferent toward these switches, even though I'm a faiboi tactile/clicky switches. I'll try to use them for the month. Next month, I'll be testing out the Everglide Aqua King switches.

The debacle relating to privacy on consumer ancestry mapping sites

If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a link.

The logic where it is justifiable to allow law enforcer or government to able to use whatever tool they need to apprehend criminals even though everyone's and anyone's privacy will be sacrificed is plain arrogant and retarded.

The best part is they are the first to whine and moan when shit hits the fan. I have absolutely no sympathy for these morons, and I sincerely hope they get fucked so high up their ass, when their own privacy are being abused by big brother, especially these two assholes and anyone who supports their decision.

No issue can be compared against an individual's privacy; if one doesn't want to share certain details of his/her life, it shouldn't be out public, period.

My thoughts on the recent "Pewdiepie is racist" incident

I can't fucking believe I'm writing this shit to defend Pewdiepie. Fucking Pewdiepie, the lamest person on gaming community.

I like how everyone starts jumping on the bandwagon of "I'm holier than thou", and starts calling Felix a racist, because the context doesn't matter. You know, just like when I'm calling you a cunt, you're not actually a cunt - because it's a fucking general insult to you as a person. Just like how Felix is insulting the player he is playing against.

If you are pissed at someone cussing in games, or such, please go back to your safe space, because NO ONE GIVES A FLYING FUCK ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS. Every fucking multiplayer game is toxic - it's just human nature. If you're going to deny it, you must be either:
  1. a recluse, who stays in your mom's attic, and never actually played multiplayer in your lifetime;
  2. so much denial, that you're detached from reality.
You know what? Leftist white liberals are still the most racist and toxic kind of people on Earth. It's funny when black people don't actually give a fuck about Felix saying "Nigger", but these morons shout louder about racism, and start abusing the said black people.

It's SJW morons like you guys who make the word "nigger" sounds offensive, because you keep saying how racist, how bigoted to speak of it. But, you know, IT'S JUST A FUCKING WORD. Empowering the word will just elevate its status.

Just like what Dave Rubin says, the more this outrage continues, the more I find myself drifting away from the left.

Naming your imaginary friend - Ea Chaun Seng edition

Do you ever blame your parents for your shitty name? Don't get me wrong, Aki's pretty bad if you ask me, especially when it sounds feminine.

That said, enter Arlose John. Your friendly neighborhood ghost hunter, aka manchild 101. Well, no parents would name their own child a loser. Unfortunately, that's not the case for Arlose here. So, to compensate his shitty name, he went for a shittier name, Arwin John. For anyone who has half a brain, you'd probably want to change your name to be better one - but not our dear Arwin.

However, thanks to his shitty name, and probably him being retard and a manchild at the same time, Arwin has almost no friends. You'd probably ask, "but Aki, I believe all manchilds have no friend!" Well, let's not be hard on him and give him a benefit of doubt. Back to our story, to compensate being lonely and yearning for friends, he made up imaginary friends. But, what shall he name his friends? Arwin has a great idea - why not use the formula of his name: shitty name + regular name combo. And there comes his great imaginary friend: Marvik Max!

As time passes, Arwin realizes that having a good "friend" is not enough; he now wants a girlfriend. However, as I've previously said, as a manchild, Arwin can find no girlfriend. Well, what do you do, if you're Arwin? That's right! Imaginary girlfriend! Using his great formula of naming, introducing Alice Kezar!

Usually, one would be grateful and satisfied to have a caring "friend" and loving "girlfriend". Unfortunately, we're talking about Arwin. To compensate his inflated ego and microscopic dick, he declared himself as Arwin John Raul Gonzalez VII. You know what? Let's not just stop there, let's inflate the ego more by creating a shitty Facebook page showing off shit that no one gives a fuck by ripping off a great game.

In conclusion, our manchild here has a great formula for naming. Always remember the formula whenever you need to name an imaginary friend. Oh, and plagiarize anything if you want to create substandard content to inflate your ego.

Just revived as of August '15

Was going through my old posts, and oh wow! Didn't realized I was such an anger ridden asshat back then.
Oh well, maybe I'm just not giving a shit about anything nowadays.

...and yup, I might wanna update the blog time to time, but just kinda felt lazy trying to do so. But, hey! I'm back writing, didn't I? At least, for this post...

I suppose I'll figure up what to write next, and try to get more motivation to write something time to time.

What's with that reaction?
