WinVista & Win7: How to Remove Location History from Desktop Background List

Because I'm too dumb on editing codes for my OS Iin this case, Windows Vista and Windows 7), I'm copy pasting this whole article (in case anyone, especially me need it in the future):

If you are using Windows Vista or 7 and want to remove the "Location" history from "Desktop Background" list, then this trick is for you.

In Windows Vista and 7, you can change the Desktop Wallpaper by right-clicking on Desktop and select "Personalize" and then click on "Desktop Background" and Apply your desired wallpaper by browsing to the folder.

But whenever you browse a folder for the wallpaper, its location is stored in drop-down box and everyone can use that path:

So if you want to remove the entire history or any particular path from it, then please follow these steps:

  1. Open regedit and go to:
  2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer\Wallpapers\Images
  3. In right-side pane, you'll see all the directory paths. Simply delete the desired key associated with the path which you want to remove.

  4. Thats it. Now you can check the Desktop Background list and your deleted path will not be present there.
